Born in Shelby, Mrs. McCurry was the wife of David Lee McCurry of Blacksburg and the daughter of the late Shirley Jackson and Dottie Minerva Byars Creswell. Mrs. McCurry worked as a homemaker and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Born in Shelby, Mrs. McCurry was the wife of David Lee McCurry of Blacksburg and the daughter of the late Shirley Jackson and Dottie Minerva Byars Creswell. Mrs. McCurry worked as a homemaker and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCurry is survived by two sons, Jackie McCurry and wife, Judy, of Blacksburg and Troy McCurry and wife, Tessa, of Gaffney; a sister, Betty Donaldson, of Mt. Airy, N.C.; six grandchildren, Michael McCurry of Blacksburg, Jaclyn Wright of Shelby, Kennedy and Carter Downs, both of Gaffney, and Caroline and John David McCurry, both of Gaffney; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCurry was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter, Julia McCurry, and two brothers, Robert Bruce and Donald Edward Creswell. The family will receive friends Monday, June 4th, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5th, at 3:00 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sellers and Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Michael McCurry, Evan McCurry, Michael Wright, Jimmy Westbrooks, Jeff Hardin, and Donald Creswell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larter Downs, Cody Wright, John David McCurry, and Eli McCurry.
