Description	:	Big Timber Pioneer, October 10, 1968 Mrs. Carrie Groom Services Held Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Lowry Chapel for Mrs. Carrie Ann Groom 89, who passed away Friday afternoon at the Pioneer Nursing Home. She had been a patient in rest homes for the past six years. Pastor D. L. Kindig of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiated at the service. Miss Beverly Parmele sang "the Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Pallbearers were Harold Boe, Rudolph Fallang, Clarence Rostad, Knute Hogmark, Donald Jones, and Arnold Mosness. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery. Carrie Ann Groom was born February 26, 1879, at Bassett, Ia., a daughter of Ruben and Emily Huffman. She married Lynn Groom at Iona, Iowa, in 1895. They came to Montana, first working on a large sheep ranch, then ranched on the Upper Rosebud, and later homesteaded in Rosebud county. Mrs. Groom had been a resident of Big Timber since 1946. She worked in restaurants, did home nursing, and raised and sold garden vegetables for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Grace Schroeder of Billings and Mrs. Mabel Simons of Searchlight, Nev.; a son, Bill Groom of Miles City; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
