She fell asleep in Jesus at her home in Moravia Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 1933, at 5:20, at the age of 74 years 8 months, 11 days, having resided in Moravia for the past 15 years. She was united in marriage to Perry Theodore McKern, August 15, 1876 at Mount Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa. To this union six children were born; 3 having preceded their mother in death. Also three sisters: Fannie Gunion of Nobleville, Indiana; Ellen Yorgas of Des Moines, Iowa; Lucy Dugdale, of Beloit, Kansas. One brother Evan of Macon, Missouri; 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Aunt Kate, as she was commonly called by her many friends, confessed her faith in Christ at the age of 14 at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, having been a faithful member of the Church of Christ until sickness forced her from active service, often being in attendane when it seemed she was unable. She was a loving mother, a kind neighbor and friend.
