Read More	Death of Lucile Potter Lucile Potter was born at the home of her grandfather, Captain McBeth, in Keosauqua, Iowa, April 24th, 1890, and died of tonsilitis at the home of her uncle, Robert McBeth, in Keosauqua, Iowa, May 15th, 1903. A deep sorrow has entered the home of Rev. J.W. and Mrs. Potter, pastor and wife of the Methodist Episcopal church at Bloomfield, Iowa, in the loss of their oldest child, Lucile. Thirteen years ago while Rev. Potter was in charge of the Burlington circuit, his health became impaired to the degree that it was found necessary for him to seek a change in climate. He hastened to South Dakota where the desired results were obtained. During his two months' stay in Dakota, Mrs. Potter visited at the home of her parents, Capt. and Mrs. McBeth of Keosauqua, Iowa. About three weeks after Rev. Potter's return, at the home of Mrs. Potter's parents, occurred the birth of Lucile. Thursday, May 7th, 1903 she came to visit her grandfather and relatives in Keosauqua. The next Monday she was taken ill with tonsilitis. She grew rapidly worse, her parents were notified and on Wednesday evening her father reached her bed-side. The same evening her condition improved and she was gradually gaining until Friday noon when without a moment's warning, she was translated from the scenes of earth to the glories of Heaven. The broken-hearted mother arrived by the first train a few hours after the angel visitor had flown. Lucile was endowed with rare natural ability. In her studies she excelled, having in the three years she lived in Bloomfield covered six years of the regular course in the public schools. She had taken several terms in music and had become quite proficient on the piano. When she was four and a half years old her parents moved to Mt. Pleasant to finish their school work. During the two years they remained there, she was idolized by faculty and students and since that time, by her sweet, happy ways, soon won a place in the affections of those she met. She was possessed of an admirable character adorned with virtues that would be only, expected, in one of mature christian experience. Her faith in Christ had moulded her life into a christian symmetry and beauty as rare and sweet as the flowers that bloomed and were sent to her memory. She was a loyal energetic member of the Junior League and for two and a half years had been president of the Mercy and Help department of the Bloomfield Chapter. In this work she carried sunshine into many homes and just before her death talked with her mamma of plans for larger usefulness in this department. For eight years she had talked, planned and fully expected to enter the missionary work. Her life was as though she had been walking ono a bright spring morning when God suddenly reached out His hand and lead her through the gates into the city of eternal life, or as though God were gathering a bouquet of roses with which to adorn the heavenly kingdom, and while He had plucked some which were fully blown and others whose petals had just unfolded, He wanted this bud of rare promise from which the fragrance of life had just begun to escape to add beauty and grace to those already gathered. The funeral services in charge of Rev. C.S. Cooper, Presiding Elder of the Keokuk District, were held Saturday May 16th. The funeral address was delivered by Rev. Hardy A. Ingham, pastor of the M.E. church in Keosauqua. As an evidence of love and esteem in which she was held by those who knew her, a profusion of beautiful floral tributes were sent from Bloomfield and Keosauqua. Resolutions of sympathy and condolence were passed by the Official Board of the Bloomfield church and sent to the parents the evening of her departure, and in addition a vacation of two weeks was granted them.
