Description	:	Carrie Marie McIntosh Lee was born Sept. 24, 1900, at home in Madison Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Mae (Lentz) McIntosh. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1918, and graduated from the University of Iowa with the class of 1922. She then taught school for one year in Rock Rapids. Read More	Carrie Marie McIntosh Lee was born Sept. 24, 1900, at home in Madison Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Mae (Lentz) McIntosh. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1918, and graduated from the University of Iowa with the class of 1922. She then taught school for one year in Rock Rapids. She was united in marriage with J. Norman Lee June 25, 1923, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Decorah. To this union, one daughter, Virginia, was born. She taught in the Decorah School District from the fall of 1942 until the spring of 1962. She served as a substitute teacher for the district from 1928 to 1942. She was very involved in her community and was an active member of the United Congregational Church of Christ. She was a member of the Winneshiek County Tuberculosis and Health Association and participated in the hiring of the first Public Health Nurse for the county in 1939. She was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Decorah State Bank, and also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Barthell Order of the Eastern Star Home from 1966 to 1973. She had served as an ex-officio member of the board since 1973, and was secretary-treasurer of the Eastern Star for many years. She cared about the educational opportunities in her hometown and recently made a monetary donation to the Decorah Community School District to be used for the remodeling of the old middle school. Her other memberships included PEO and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, and took a number of cruises and other trips over the years. She enjoyed reading and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 20, 1966, and a grandson, Michael Lee Pearson, Dec. 12, 1998.
