"Ike" Eichner, 72, of Box 510, Killduff, a former longtime member of the Jasper County Board of Supervisors, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Jim Stiles, pastor of the Collegiate Methodist Church in Ames, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted. He died Thursday morning at the Humana Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, of a heart ailment. Survivors are his wife, Harriet; a daughter Marty (Mrs. Scott) Ford of Newton; and two grandchildren, Matthew Ford and Jane Ford, both of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Verna Hotger, and a brother, Gerald in infancy. Mr. Eichner, who had served on the board of supervisors for 14 consecutive years, had operated Fleck Hatchery for several years and was a seed corn salesman for Pioneer Seeds Co. for 26 years, prior to his retirement. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church, Killduff Richland Grange, Monumental Lodge 311 AF and AM, Newton BPOE Elks Lodge 1270, Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655, Kellogg American Legion and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines. The son of William and Carrie Birkenholz Eichner, he was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Killduff and was a 1935 graduate of Newton Community High School.
