Description	:	Carson Gene Dofflemyer, 88, better known as “Boog,” passed away November 30, 2018, after a complications from a fall. On Sept. 5, 1959, he married Joyce Ann Painter, who survives. He is also survived by one son, Tim Dofflemyer and wife, Donna, of Luray, Va.; one granddaughter, Courtney Hilliard and, husband, Ethan, of Luray, Va.; and four precious great-grandchildren, Connor, Cole, Corinne and Cohen. Born January 5, 1930, son of Harold Vincent Dofflemyer and Peggy Edith Viands, he was raised by his grandparents, Amos and Lily Dofflemyer. He is preceded in death by father, Harold Dofflemyer; mother, Edith Viands Estep; sister, Faye Beavan, and sister, Barbara Preisler. Boog worked for Potomac Edison for 40 years. After his retirement, he drove special needs children to the Deaf and Blind School for 10 years. Boog was a private pilot and loved to fly his Ercoupe in his pastime. He served on the Page Memorial Hospital trustees for nine years, as well as serving on the Luray Airport Commission. He loved to work in his shop, making swings, picnic tables, lampposts and wooden ducks. Everyone who knew Boog took a special liking to him. He went to the beach for 55-plus years at Nags Head, N.C. He was known as “Sea King” at the beach. He graduated from Luray High School in the Class of 1948. He kept in contact with his school friends; every fourth Saturday they would meet at Uncle Bucks Restaurant when they could. Boog was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Burtonwood, England, where he always had a fondness for. A funeral service will be conducted at the Bradley Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Alfred Comer, Earl Painter and Duane Painter officiating. The family will receive friends at the Bradley Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2018, from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Va., with the VFW Comer Jones Post 621 performing military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the Luray Rescue Squad, Luray, VA 22835, or the charity of your choice. The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va., will be handling the arrangements.
