Walter, native of Germany, died early tuesday morning at his home near Brayton following an illness of about eight days with pnuemonia." "The deceased was born in Holstein, Germany on December 23, 1852. He was united in marriage to Johanna Kay on November 3, 1885, and they came to America and settled on a farm near Marne. Walter, native of Germany, died early tuesday morning at his home near Brayton following an illness of about eight days with pnuemonia." "The deceased was born in Holstein, Germany on December 23, 1852. He was united in marriage to Johanna Kay on November 3, 1885, and they came to America and settled on a farm near Marne. They resided there seven years, and then located on a farm near Brayton, where Mr. Walter died. In 1916, they retired to Atlantic where they lived until September, 1928 when Mrs. Walter died. Following the death of his wife, Mr. Walter moved to the farm again." Surviving are four children: Mrs. Nels Hoegh and Mrs. Jens Christofferson of near Brayton, and Ernest and Lean Walter at home. One son, Carl, died in infancy. Nine grandchildren also survive." "Funeral services are being held this afternoon [Mar. 24, 1932] at 2:30 at the Zion Lutheran Church of which Mr. Walter was a member. The Rev. M.E. Soliz has charge of the service and burial will be in the Brighton Township [Cass County] cemetery." Additional information: Carsten H. Walter was the son of Carsten Christen Friedrich Walter and his wife Anna Catharina Busch of Meldorf, Germany. His parents married 24 August 1833 in Lunden, Norderdtihmarschen, Schleswig-Holstein, Deutschland (Germany). Carsten gave his arrival date in the USA in 1881. Johanna arrived on 5 March 1883, according to Census information. Carsten worked as a farmer. His age was 79 years, 2 months and 24 days.
