Read More	Name: Casandra DEAN Departed this life at the residence of her son-in-law, Major John Strobel, on the 13th of April, 1866, MRS. CASANDRA MILLER, widow of the late Samuel Miller, of Spartanburg District, in the eighty-sixth year of her age. She made a public profession of her faith while young, united with the Baptist Church, but upon her marriage was transferred to the Nazareth (Presbyterian) Church, where she remained a consistent member until her death. Her life was illustrative of the power and blessedness of the Christian religion, which she adorned with that meek and quiet spirit, so characteristic of a true child of God. Her ardent piety and love for Christ, were exhibited by her devotion for his ordinances. Her place in the church was seldom vacant, and even under great bodily sufferings, she would go the the house of God. Her faith in the sure promises of her divine master, which sustained her amidst all the varied ills and transient scenes of life, was firm and unwavering, when prostrated upon a bed of sickness. It was truly instructive to witness her meekness and patience, during a protracted illness of more than two months. Not a murmur escaped her lips, nor a sign of impatience was visible in her countenance. Her death was a fitting sequel of her life, calm, peaceful and triumphant. During her illness she made frequent allusions of approaching death without terror or alarm, and often expressed a desire to depart and be with Christ in the "mansions of the blessed." The funeral services were held at Nazareth Church, on the day of her burial, and conducted by the Rev. A.P. Smith, with appropriate and impressive exercises. The deceased has left three children, viz: two sons and a daughter, and many other relatives to lament their irreparable loss, but they have, however, the pleasing consolation to believe that their departed friend, who lived by faith, died in hope, now sleeps that blessed sleep in Christ.
