Death has brought its burden of sorrow into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kluthe, east of town, and stilled the heart of their beloved son, Caspar, whose soul passed into the realm of eternity on Wednesday morning, January seventh, at two o'clock. It was a long and losing struggle, but every effort was put forth during the many months of sickness for his ease and comfort by the members of the family who faithfully ministered to his every need and gave him tender care. They hoped against hope that the young life, just reaching manhood's estate, would be spared although they realized that the shadow of death was daily drawing nearer. Caspar was the son of parents who are numbered among the highly respected pioneers of this section of Nebraska, and lived in this community all his life. He was born in the Orlean neighborhood on the twenty-ninth day of April, 1904. His early training prepared him for a life of honesty, integrity and uprightness, for he was baptised in childhood in the Catholic faith and later, in his boyhood, confirmed in the Catholic church; he adhered faithfully to the teachings of its doctrines and its benign influence, having lived a Christian life during the years allotted him on earth. Naturally his life was such that he was held in highest esteem, and though he will be sadly missed in the community, yet it is in the family circle that he will be missed most, for the kindly, sympathetic and helpful side of his nature was shown particularly in the home life. Besides his parents, four sisters and four brothers have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow. It is a difficult matter to fathom the why and the wherefore of the decrees of God. We know not the purpose of our existence, but there is implanted in our being aspirations, desires and ambitions – and a sense of immortality; this makes us realize that there is a divine purpose in our creation, and our departed young friend lived as one in constant preparation for everlasting life. The memory of his faith and his loyalty to the things in which he believed was a source of great comfort to him in the closing period of his life, and a consolation to those who are mourning his death. That he held the goodwill and respect of all was shown by the large congregation at the funeral, which was held this morning at Sacred Heart church at Olean. Solemn requiem high mass was chanted for the repose of his soul by Rev. Schopp and appropriate music was rendered by the church choir. At the close of the services the relatives and friends sorrowfully wended their way to the parish cemetery near by where, with simple services, the remains were lowered to their last resting place. Sweet be his sleep until Time shall be no more.
