Read More	Son of John Jacob & Johanne Luise Clementine "Tina" (Gorichs) Schwab LIFE STORY of Casper A. Schwab - 60 Casper A. Schwab, son of Tina Gorichs and John J. Schwab, was born December 3, 1894 at Poplar, Shelby County, Iowa. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home June 1. His age was 60 years, 5 months and 28 days. Mr. Schwab grew to manhood in the Harlan vicinity attending the Harlan schools from which he was graduated with the class of 1951. In 1921 he entered into a partnership with Oliver Bacon in the retail hardware business and the firm of Schwab and Bacon was established in Harlan. Under their management, the store became a well-known business name in Shelby county and surrounding areas. On July 26, 1923 he was married to Isabelle Muenchrath at Omaha, Nebraska. Two children were born to this marriage, a son Gerald John and daughter Rose Mary A veteran of World War I, he was the first commander of Harlan American Legion post. He also served on the volunteer fire department at one time, and is a past president of the Harlan Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are his wife, Isabelle; son, Major Gerald John Schwab of Fort Benning, Georgia and daughter, Rose Mary, now Mrs. John Janowski of South Bend, Indiana. Also, two grandchildren and two brothers, Conrad Schwab of Harlan and Ernest Schwab of Onaga, Kansas. Funeral services were held Saturday morning June 4 at the Pauley Funeral Home with the Rev. Leo Gannon officiating. Burial was held in the Harlan cemetery with full military rites. From The Harlan Tribune (Harlan, Iowa) Friday 17 June 1955
