The death of Mr. Schmucker, who was 88 years old, was pronounced due to complications of old age, as he had suffered declining health and feebleness for several months. Funeral arrangements will not be completed until word is received from two sons in Texas who are the only members of the family of eight children who do not live in the Fordyce vicinity. Mr. Schmucker was born on April 4, 1842, in Westphalia, Germany, and was married to Katherine Witen (sic/Wiepen) in 1874. The couple immigrated to America in 1892 with their children and came at once to Cedar county, settling on a farm near St. Helena. Six years ago they retired to Fordyce where they have lived since. He is survived by his widow and eight children, Tony and Henry who live in Texas, and Theodore, Joe, Casper, Jr., Frank, Mrs. Joe Boehmer and Mrs. Henry Bonertz all living in the Fordyce vicinity.
