Description	:	Cassie Lucinda Balentine was the daughter of George Washington Balentine and Nancy Octivene Moore. Siblings were James William "Jeems" Balentine, Thomas "Levi" Balentine, Roxey Louise "Lou" Balentine, Andrew George Jackson Balentine, Ada "Ader" J. Balentine, Dizzie Elvara Balentine, Bertha Rosella Balentine, Predith Balentine (who disappeared), Nelson Balentine (died at age 4) and Mary Balentine (died at 7 months). Emanuel and Cassie had: Dosha Octivene, Ina Josephine, Roy George Elzie, Gertrude Savannah, Corbie "Nelson", Beatrice Luisi and Jessie Jewel. On July 4th, 1919 Cassie had a son that died. Three days later she died. Cassie's brother, Levi, took care of Cassie's grave until near the end of his own life he asked his two daughters, Lovra and Jean to please take care of his sister's grave as long as they were able. Lovra and Jean faithfully cleaned and decorated Cassie's grave. Without their care, we would have never known where Cassie was buried because the Pordue Cemetery records had been destroyed by fire many years ago. In 2007, I began researching my husband's family and was honored to meet Jean and her husband, Bob. Jean showed us where Cassie and her baby were buried. All of Cassie's grandchildren and several neices and nephews donated money to purchase a headstone for her and the baby. Unfortunately, it wasn't until a few years later that I discovered the baby was born and died on the 4th.
