Film 1882648-1 329 146 ELEL 174∼Parents: Johannes Jacob Theurer and Maria Carolina Philippi She was born in Neu Freudental, Grossliebental, Odessa, South Russia. Married: Johann Michael Weber 1858 Freudental, Odessa, Russia. Her husband, Michael had died in 1875 at Neu Freudental, Odessa, Russia and in June 1885 she left for America. When her husband, Michael died, Elizabeth moved to Neu Freudental. She bought a small piece of land with a sod house on it and rented some land, which she farmed with the help of her sons. Later they replaced the sod house with a stone house. She had to sell the black stone house she lived in in Russia and often spoke of the lovely roses they had. Because of unstable conditions in Russia and their increasing difficulties with Russian landlords, she decided to leave for America. With the help of a rich relative in Russia, she was able to sell her home and personal belongings. They came on the ship "Werra" to America June 1885 from Bremerhaven, Germany, landing in New York and going on to Bridgewater, SD and then arriving in Menno, SD on 18 May 1886, and later settling in Dakota Terriory near Eureka, in what is now Campbell County, South Dakota. She came to America at age 47 with five of their children: Marguaret (age 21), Jacob, (age 19) Christina (age17) Carl(age 15) and Johan (age 10). A granddaughter, Johanna, (age 10 months) also immigrated with them (daughter of Elizabeth). When they arrived in South Dakota, they proceeded immediately to the home of a relative, (near the Menno/Freeman, SD area) whose name was Karl Broeckel (a Baptist minister) (undoubtedly the father of Rev. Emmanuel Broeckel who preached in and near Bismarck, ND for many years.) It is believed that Karl Broeckel was a cousin of hers and helped finance her to come to America.) They lived there for awhile with him and apparently embraced the Baptist religion. Parents: Johannes Jacob Theurer and Maria Carolina Philippi One daugther, Christina Weber b 13 Oct 1874 died in Russia.
