She had been in poor health for more than six months and her death was due to a complication of diseases. Catherine Butz Garman was born in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, May 1, 1840. She was the daughter of Nathan and Susan Butz. There were six brothers and four sisters of whom four brothers and one sister survive. She had been in poor health for more than six months and her death was due to a complication of diseases. Catherine Butz Garman was born in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, May 1, 1840. She was the daughter of Nathan and Susan Butz. There were six brothers and four sisters of whom four brothers and one sister survive. In 1844, her parents moved by wagon to Ohio. January 4, 1859 she was united in marriage to John Adams Garman. To this union six children - four sons and two daughters- were born. Two sons and one daughter preceded her to the spirit world. Two years of their married life was spent in Ohio, moving thence to this state locating in Allen County. The lived there for a time and in 1865 the moved onto a farm in this county where they lived until the death of Mr. Garman which occurred June 8, 1910. A short time later she went to make her home with her daughter at which place she passed away March 27, 1915, age 74 years, 10 months and 26 days. Mrs. Garman became a member of the Lutheran church when she was yet at home with parents. Later she joined the Evangelical, and then the Untied Brethren, of which church she remained faithful until death. She is survived by two sons, one daughter, sixteen grand-children, and many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral was conducted Monday forenoon at the Grove Chapel church north-east of town and the services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Hindbaugh. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Nathan Butz, a brother, Bellevue, Ohio; Frank Butz, a brother, also Albert Butz and Mrs. Arvilla Jackson, of Angola; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Garman and Mrs. Mary Myers, of Huntertown and John Garman, of Fort Wayne.
