Born on August 4, 1917, in Tenafly, NJ, Catharine was the daughter of the late Henry Otis Pond & Winifred Margaret Semple Pond. She was married to the late Marvin Downer Minear & is predeceased by her siblings, Henry O. Pond, Jr., Edward F. Pond, Donald S. Pond & Caroline P. Mackey, as well as by her daughter, Margaret M. Nettles, of Athens, GA. She is survived by her other children, John D. Minear, of Nellysford, VA; David B. Minear, of Hanau, Germany; Kenneth E. Minear, of Portland, OR; Winifred A. Minear, of San Pedro Sula, Honduras & Dorothy J. Minear, of Pensacola, FL, as well as by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Catharine received her baccalaureate degree from Maryville College in Tennessee & worked for many years for a medical group in Vero Beach, FL, and then as a social worker for the State of Florida. Upon retirement, she moved to the mountains of North Carolina & then finally to Athens, GA. Catharine lived a long and active life, filled with her love of God, her family & friends, & the beauty of a world filled with flowers, birds, and song.
