Read More	Catherine Anne Moldenhauer was born on March 29, 1923 in Brookings County, SD the daughter of John H. and Lora (Dancer) Maher. She died on Monday, November 29, 2004 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 81. Catherine received her education in rural schools in Brookings County and was a graduate of Brookings High School in 1941. She continued her education at Madison General Beadle, South Dakota State University, Iowa State University, and Drake University in Des Moines, IA. She taught school in Brookings County and Chester, SD. She was united in marriage to William C. Moldenhauer on November 26, 1947 in Brookings, SD. From 1946 until 1949, she taught school in Volga, SD and for a short time at Badger Village, WI. They then lived in Big Spring, TX, Ames, IA and Morris, MN. From 1975 until 1986, they lived in West Lafayette, IN where she was employed as a secretary in Food and Nutrition at Purdue University. In 1986, she retired with her husband to Volga, SD. She was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Brookings, the Ladies' Guild, the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Social Time Club, Century Club in Volga and the DuCum Extension Club. Catherine was very proud of the fact that she had traveled to 48 states and over a dozen countries. She enjoyed needlepoint, playing bridge, dancing, reading and especially spending time with family and friends. Catherine is survived by her husband William of Brookings, SD; three daughters Jean Ann Cash of St. Anthony, MN, Patricia Lynn Bortnem (Alan) of Sioux Falls, SD, Barbara Joan Lee (Rick) of Normal, IL; two sons James Alan Moldenhauer (Renee) of Ramsey, MN, Thomas John Moldenhauer of Lauderdale, MN; seven grandchildren Jason Bortnem (Marin), Angela Lynch (Joe), Nicholas Bortnem, Lora and Drew Moldenhauer, Stefanie and Allison Lee; three great grandchildren Sydney and Ryen Lynch and Sabren Bortnem; one sister Evelyn Nelson (Orville) of Sinai, SD; and one brother Bernard J. Maher (Winnie) of Redondo Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Vincent.
