She had been gradually failing in health since an operation four years ago, and for the last month had grown steadily worse. She leaves one son, J. E. Rego, and four daughters, Mrs. W. A. Stevens, Mrs. J. N. Burch and Mrs. Charles Sevens, all of Ellensburg, and W. D. Killmore of Seattle. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 at the Methodist Church in Ellensburg. The funeral is in charge of M. L. Bridgham, and the Rev. Mr. Garver will preach the service. Since her coming here in 1875, Mrs. Rego had been prominently identified with the history of the valley. Long before the coming of the railroad, Mrs. Rego and her husband made the long trip overland from Missouri and settled within a quarter of a mile of the present home to Mrs. W. A. Stevens where Mrs. Rego passed away yesterday. Mrs. Rego was born in Harrison County, Indiana, in 1830, the daughter of a pioneer Indiana family. She was married twenty years later to J. B. Rego and the two lived in Harrison County for seven years when they removed to Missouri. Eighteen years were spent in this home before they came to the Kittitas Valley. Mr. Rego died nine years ago, and for the next eight years his widow made her home with Mrs. Charles Stevens until last year when she went to live with her other daughter. All her life Mrs. Rego had been a firm believer in the Christian faith, and when the first Congregational Church was organized in the valley by the Rev. Mr. Hawn, she became one of the charter members. She was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge while living in Missouri, but came here long before the founding of the local chapter and had never identified herself with the lodge here. Through her long residence here, an a charming personality, Mrs. Rego was known and loved by her many neighbors in Ellensburg and the valley, many of them pioneers like herself. "Mrs. Rego was a real Christian and a kind friend and neighbor," said one of her friends this morning on learning of her death. "Those who had known and loved her, will be truly sorry to hear of her death." Evening Record, December 7, 1916
