She passed on without any warning while sitting on a chair at the home of her son, Peter Muller, and his wife. Dr. Myers was immediately summoned by Mr. Muller, but suddenly and swiftly death had stilled her heart and she belongs to the ages. Mrs. Muller was one of the pioneer women of this county, although she spent the days of her childhood and youth in Germany, where she was born January, twentyfifth, 1851. When she was eighteen years old she came to this country when her parents, the late, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Becker, and their family left the fatherland, and for a year made their home at Mineral Point, Wis. The following year, in the spring of 1870; They came to Nebraska and settled on a homestead in Maple Creek precinct in this country. [sic] In 1872, Two years after her arrival here, she was married to Mr. Peter Muller, the ceremony having taken place at St. Charles' church in Cuming county, one of the oldest in this part of the state, Poor in purse, but fired with the spirit of the pioneers, they undauntedly faced the adversities of the early days with its scourge of grasshoppers, its hardships and privations, They established their home In Maple Creek precinct, on a farm in the section adjoining the Becker homestead, which was Mrs. Muller's home for more than a half century Mr. Muller constantly added to its rich acres, and at the time of his death, in 1909 on the eighteenth of March, he was one of the wealthy farmers of the county. Mrs. Muller was a woman of noble mould of character, a helpmate in the trials and struggles in the days long since gone, a devoted, wife throughout her married life, a loving mother and a good-hearted neighbor. She was a zealous Christian of the Catholic faith with intense devotion to its precepts and ideals, and reared her family of children according to the teachings of the church. Her memory is cherished by her four sons and five daughters, two daughters, one aged fifteen months, and Annie, who died in 1910, having preceded their mother in death. The surviving ones to mourn her death are Peter, John, Henry and Hubert Muller, all of this community, Katie, now Mrs. Geo. A. Stangel of Snyder, Clara, who is married to Frank Loebe, and lives at Cheyenne Wells, Colo; Mary, who is Mrs. Henry Laur of this place, Clara, the wife of Frank Vacha of Oakland, Calif, and Martha, now Mrs. Chas. Koch of near Madison; all gathered for the memorial rites honoring the memory of their beloved mother with the exception of Peter, who was taken ill and was unable to attend the church services. She is also survived by thirty seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and her death is mourned by one brother, Mr. Hubert Becker of Osmond, who is now the only surviving member of the Peter Becker family. To all of these goes out the sympathy of the. community in their bereavement. The funeral was held Monday morning, Rev. H. J. Buerger having conducted a prayer service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Muller, and officiated at requiem mass at SS. Peter and Paul's church: The church choir furnished music, and the large attendance testified to the high esteem in which the departed was held by her neighbors and other friends. Beautiful flowers covered the casket as an expression of affection and sympathy, and the interior of the church was decorated with flowering plants and ferns. At the close of the mass the flower-covered casket was conveyed to SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery where interment was made in the family plot. May her soul rest in peace. Those from a distance who were present at the funeral to pay a last tribute of respect to the memory of the departed were Mr. Hubert Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Will Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Becker, all of Osmond, George Stangel and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mrsny, all of Snyder, Mrs. Frank Loebe and son, Joseph, of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Mrs. Frank J. Vacha and daughter, Miss Monica, of Oakland, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Koch and daughter, Miss Martha, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Koch and Ben Koch, all of Madison, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Phillips, all of Beemer. CARD OF THANKS. At the time of the death and burial of our beloved mother, Mrs. Catherine Muller, we had the kindly helpfulness and sympathy of our neighbors and other friends. We appreciate every favor extended and express our sincere thanks to all, and especially to Rev. H. J. Buerger, the members of SS.
