Description	:	Highland Recorder January 6, 1922 Mrs. Catherine Varner, widow of William Varner, died at her home near Palo Alto, Dec. 23 from heart trouble and the infirmities of old age. She had been in bad health for a number of years, but bore her suffering with great patience. A few weeks before her death her condition became more serious. Read More	Highland Recorder January 6, 1922 Mrs. Catherine Varner, widow of William Varner, died at her home near Palo Alto, Dec. 23 from heart trouble and the infirmities of old age. She had been in bad health for a number of years, but bore her suffering with great patience. A few weeks before her death her condition became more serious. All was done that could be done to relieve her suffering, but she grew steadily worse until the end came. Mrs. Varner’s age was 76 years, 11 months and 19 days. She was well known, and much beloved by all who knew her. For many years she had been a consistent member of the Brethren church and lived a true christian life until death. Surviving her are the following children, D.W. Varner, of near Sugar Grove, W.Va.; Mrs. John Huffman, of Mt. Solon, Va.; Mrs. J.W. Beverage, Mrs. Addison Crummett Mrs. W.P. Simmons, and G.W. Varner, all of Highland, one brother, John A. Botkin, also of Highland. Her funeral was conducted at her home on Christmas day by her pastor Rev. J.W. Hess, after which her remains were laid to rest in the Jordan grave yard near her home in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends.
