Description	:	Catherine Corenne "Cathy" (Gabbert) Leshovsky, daughter of William J. and Freida (Backhaus) Gabbert, was born November 23, 1928 at Linton, North Dakota. Cathy died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Cathy grew up in the Linton area, and attended Linton High School. Following graduation, she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and received a Bachelor's Degree, majoring in English and German. Cathy died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Cathy grew up in the Linton area, and attended Linton High School. Following graduation, she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and received a Bachelor's Degree, majoring in English and German. On June 8, 1952, Cathy was married to Howard Leshovsky at Peace Lutheran Church in Linton, North Dakota. The couple was blessed with three children, William, Maris, and Jan. Cathy had a rewarding career in education, first teaching for two years at Milnor High School in Milnor, North Dakota, before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, where she taught for 18 years at Norfolk Junior High School, in addition to one year part-time. Cathy retired from teaching in 1985 after 20 years of service. Cathy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Norfolk, where she was also a member of the Women of the ELCA. Cathy served on the Literacy Network for the National Council of the Churches of Christ and the Adult Basic Education Board at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for women educators, and was a former member of the NCEA/NSEA/NEA/NSEA-R. Cathy belonged to the Norfolk Area Retired Teachers Association, serving as President from 1989 to 1993. Her dedication to community service included volunteering with many organizations in the Norfolk area, such as tutoring at the ABE Office at Northeast Community College, working with the Red Cross Bloodmobile, serving on the School Improvement Team for the former Northern Hills Elementary School, working with Habitat for Humanity, serving on the former Lutheran Hospital Service Guild, assisting at the Elkhorn Valley Museum, and working in the Faith Regional Health Services Gift Shop. Cathy is survived by: husband, Howard Leshovsky of Norfolk, Nebraska; son, William H. (Pam) Leshovsky of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughters, Maris K. McCarville of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jan E. (Jim) White of Norfolk, Nebraska; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Cathy was preceded in death by: parents, William Gabbert on June 26, 1960 and Freida Gabbert on March 6, 1983. Burial was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
