Read More	Miss Katrina Elizabeth Jessen (that is exactly the way it is written in her obituary) was born near Strawberry Point, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1866, the 3rd daughter of Peter and Katherine Jessen, and passed away at her home Feb. 9th, 1941, at the age of 75 years and 3 days. Her childhood days were spent in the vicinity of Putnam Township and here she received her schooling. She attended the Lutheran church and was confirmed in 1916 at St. Peter's Evangelical Church in Lamont, Iowa. On Feb. 15, 1887, Katrina Jessen was united in marriage to Joseph Ehler at Elkader, Iowa. Their home was made on a farm near Lamont where two daughters, who died in Infancy, and four sons, John, William, Lee and Erve, who all reside in this community, were born. She was a devoted mother and wife with her interests centered about home and family. She had been a member of L.I.C. Club for many years and great enjoyed it. During the last few years she had been in very poor health, bearing her sufferings without complaint. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ehler, who passed away March 9, 1940. She leaves to mourn her four sons: John, William, Lee and Erve; two granddaughters, Mrs. Floyd Bush of Strawberry Point and Eva Ehler of Lamont; and one great-grandchild, Brenda Jane Bush; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ehler and Mrs. Emma Averill of Arlington, and Mrs. Hattie Nedreau of Oelwein, Iowa. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. R. B. Braulick of the Luatheran church at Arlington officiating, with burial at the Union Cemetery. The casket bearers were Bert Bush, Ed Fry, E.M. Whitney, Fred Talcott, John Downer and Henry Allenstein. The music was furnished by Mrs. Agnes Newton and Mrs. Eva Welsh of Arlington and Mrs. Hazel Ehler at the pain. These people from away attended the funeral services of Mrs. Ehler: Mr. and Mrs. Nedreau, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bray and daughter Laverna, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sharff, all of Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bush and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jessen, all of Strawberry Point; Lee Turesdale and Mrs. Mildren Hodges of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bush of Strawberry Point.
