Miss Weiss was married at the early age of 15 years to Simeon Anstey, who enlisted during the Civil War and served in the 13th Kansas Infantry. Read More	Obituary from the Ellsworth newspaper 1906 Catherine Eva Weiss was born September 28, 1843 in Pike County Ohio, and died August 22, 1906 at her home in Kanopolis, Kansas. Miss Weiss was married at the early age of 15 years to Simeon Anstey, who enlisted during the Civil War and served in the 13th Kansas Infantry. He died on the 11 of February, 1863, at Fayetteville, Arkansas from the effects of a forced March. On June 18, 1863 she was again united in marriage to David S Bradford. Mrs. Bradford made her home in Kansas since 1855, settling first in Brown County and moving to Ellsworth County in 1881, settled on the Mulberry almost north of Carneiro. Mr. Bradford died October 27, 1884 while on a visit to Pottawatomie County and was buried there. Mrs. Bradford was the mother of thirteen children, nine of whom, five sons and four daughters, John Anstey, Henry, Eli, Ira, Lewis, Elizabeth, Mrs. Mary Farrington, Mrs. Bertha Reid, and Mrs. Susan Cleverdon are living to mourn her loss. She also leaves a sister and two brothers with thirty-two grand children and three great-grand children. Three years ago Mother Bradford moved to Kanopolis to make her home there. About a year ago that dreaded disease, cancer appeared on her face and she went to Salina where she was treated for it and apparently cured. But, her former strength never returned and two months ago she was compelled to take to her bed. At times she suffered much and could take little nourishment, but through it all she manifested that patient, Christian spirit which had characterized her life over 40 years. She was converted when 19 years of age and united with the M.E. Church of which she was a loyal member and faithful worker. On August 22nd, at 5:45 A.M., just at the break of day, at the call of the master to come up higher, she went to her last sleep, consciously saying, "Blessed Res, Sweet Rest." Folded the hands that have faithfully labored, Quietly clasped over the o,er once troubled breast; Gone are the heartaches, the waiting is ended, Peacefully, tranquilly lying at rest, Silent the lips that so often in blessing Comfort in trial and in grief did impart; Closed are the eyes that were loving and tender, Hushed are the throbbing of that loyal heart, Willing to live, willing to suffer, Trusting, though billows would over her roll, Happier still she had heard the sweet summons, "Enter thy haven, oh tempest tossed soul". Rev. T.J. Nixon her former pastor had charge of the funeral services which were held Sunday, August 26th in the little stone church on the Mulberry, after which her remains were interred int he cemetery to await the resurrection. *Side note from the Family book*---Of the original family that came from Germany in 1840, Margarethe was the first to pass away, in 1850, at the age of 44.
