Hopkins and Vella Ross Hopkins, she grew up in a large and loving farm family. After graduating from Wilmington College, she worked for nearly a half century for Pocahontas, Inc. and maintained a close relationship with its owners, the Hollands, throughout much of her life. She and her late husband, Porter P. Ent, were married for 56 years. Devoted to their families, they made a home for her mother and sister Sarah in later years. She and her husband were unfailingly kind and caring to many nieces and nephews. As her health declined in the last decade of her life, she was assisted and protected by dedicated caregivers and family members, including her nephew, Richard Culver. She is survived by two sisters: Vella Jean Culver of Las Vegas, NV; and Cora Lou Adams of Charlotte, NC. Preceding her in death were three sisters: Helen MacLeod, Sarah Dryden Horner and Gladys Hopkins; and three brothers: Stephen Bunting Hopkins; George Robert Hopkins and John Edward Hopkins. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home, the Rev. Benita Harris officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens, near Hebron. Contributions memorializing her and her husband may be made to the Catherine and Porter Ent Scholarship Fund at Salisbury University, c/o the SU Foundation, Inc., PO Box 2655, Salisbury, MD 21802-2655, or to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
