Married to Walter Pease. --------------------------------- June 2004 Holt County Independent Catherine Pease, age 90, of Lynch, formerly of Emmet and O'Neill, passed away Wednesday June 23 at Yankton, SD. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29,2004 at United Methodist Church, Lynch. Graveside services were held at O'Neill Prospect Cemetery. Catherine, daughter of Elmer and Kitty Cook Hagensick, was born on April 13,1914 at O'Neill. Her mother died during childbirth, so she was raised by her grandparents, Anna and Christopher Hagensick. She graduated from O'Neill high school in 1933 and received her teaching degree from Doane college. She was united in marriage to Walter Pease on May 24,1939 at Neligh. Walter was a rancher and passed away in 1977. Catherine was an elementary teacher in rural schools and O'Neill for 34 years. 23 years was in the O'Neill schools. After she retired from teaching she became a nurses aide and took care 3 of the homebound elderly, (that's the way it was in the paper) volunteered at O'Neill Golden Age senior Center and worked at the M&M bakery. For the past 5 years she had been living with her daughter in Lynch, held an office in the Retired Teachers Ass and was a member of Ranchland Art Group. Catherine is survived by her daughters, Joan Faith and husband LeRoy of Lynch, Rita Gallagher and husband Terry of Cairo, her son Merle of O'Neill, 8 grandchildren half sister Della Baker of Grand Island, half brother Donald Hagensick of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne and half sister.
