Description	:	Catherine Helen "Helen" Hanson, 90, of North Platte, died May 3, 2005, at Centennial Park Retirement Village. She was born to Frank and Hazel (Collins) Sears, Dec. 25, 1914, at Callaway, Custer Co., Nebraska. She graduated from Callaway High School in 1932 and moved to North Platte in 1935. She worked at Kunkel's as a bookkeeper. Helen married Raymond Thomas "Ray" Hanson in 1940. Mrs. Hanson was a charter member of the DOES, a member of the Ladies of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a member of the Madonna Auxiliary of St. Mary's Hospital. She enjoyed going to the cabin... Read More	Catherine Helen "Helen" Hanson, 90, of North Platte, died May 3, 2005, at Centennial Park Retirement Village. She was born to Frank and Hazel (Collins) Sears, Dec. 25, 1914, at Callaway, Custer Co., Nebraska. She graduated from Callaway High School in 1932 and moved to North Platte in 1935. She worked at Kunkel's as a bookkeeper. Helen married Raymond Thomas "Ray" Hanson in 1940. Mrs. Hanson was a charter member of the DOES, a member of the Ladies of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a member of the Madonna Auxiliary of St. Mary's Hospital. She enjoyed going to the cabin at Lake McConaughy and volunteering at St. Mary's with the ladies in blue. Helen loved growing roses, going fishing with her friends and family, and traveling with her husband. She has been at home at Centennial Park since 1993. After she had her first child she stayed home and raised her children. Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Tom) Griffith and Cindy (Bob) Johnson, all of North Platte; two granddaughters, Kris Griffith and Amanda (Mark) Brown; three grandsons, Todd (Valerie) Griffith, Jeff (Linda) Johnson and Joe (special friend Amber Jackson) Johnson; two great-granddaughters, Natalie and Emily Johnson; two great-grandsons, Ian and Brandon Griffith; and all of her special friends and nurses at Centennial Park. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a son, Frank Thomas; her parents; and a brother, Boyd Sears of Florida. A memorial has been established to The Ray T. and Helen Hanson Charitable Fund at Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. Christian Wake services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Adams & Swanson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Art Faesser as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery.
