Fauquier County, Virginia, USA At his death Age: 77 Jacob left over 3,000 acres to his children, giving over 200 acres to each one male and female; as well as some to his grandchildren. Between 1861-1864 Ashland Farms, Warrenton, Fauquier Co., VA Ashland Farms was used as a medical facility by the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1862 there is the story of the Mystery of Union Payroll Tradition has it that a paymaster in the Union Army buried the army payroll somewhere at Ashland Farms before he was killed at nearby Waterloo. The money was never found. Currently, the property is owned by a private party where the graves are located.
