Born Sep. 28, 1910, in rural Nauvoo, IL, she was the daughter of Marion and Ollie (Harmon) Diton. She married Clarence J. Gingrich Feb. 17, 1930, in Denmark. She graduated from the Denmark Academy High School around 1928. She farmed in the Denmark area and then operated a hardware store in New London before moving to Burlington. She was a homemaker and a member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, Royal Neighbors of America and was a member and former secretary of the Burlington Senior Citizens. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Marie (Donald) Wolfskill, Burlington, and Mrs. Maxine (Jack) Stotts, Denmark; two sisters, Mrs. Veva Cronk, Burlington, and Mrs. Helen (Howard) Senf, Denmark; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call as they desire today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Lunning Chapel. The service for Mrs. Gingrich will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Gaskill officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Ft. Madison. Memorials have been established for the Burlington Fire Department Ambulance and the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ. Ref: Funeral Card – Catherine I. Marvin Gingrich was the soloist and Michelle Heckhart the organist. She was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and the Royal Neighbors of America and a Member and Former Secretary of Burlington Senior Citizens. Interment in Oakland Cem., Ft. Madison, IA. Pallbearers were Brad Stotts, Kevin Wolfskill, Marvin Gingrich, Gary Senf, Bob Orr and Babe Grossman. Honorary Pallbearers were Delbert Snider, Archie Stotts and Edward Lodwick. A light from our household is gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. We have to mourn the loss of one, We did our best to save; Beloved on earth, regretted still, Remembered in the grave. 'Tis hard to part with one so dear, We little thought the time was near; Farewell, dear one, your life is past, Our love for you to the end will last.
