Description	:	Catherine Irene Hutchison, age 95, of Leon, Iowa passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at her home. Catherine Hutchison was born January 27, 1923, at Cainsville, Missouri, to Carl LeRoy and Ethel Elizabeth (Cain) Smith. She put her faith in God when she was young. She attended school in Cainsville and Pleasanton when her family moved to Pleasanton, Iowa. There she met Wilmer Francis Hutchison and they were married July 23, 1939. Read More	Catherine Irene Hutchison, age 95, of Leon, Iowa passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at her home. Catherine Hutchison was born January 27, 1923, at Cainsville, Missouri, to Carl LeRoy and Ethel Elizabeth (Cain) Smith. She put her faith in God when she was young. She attended school in Cainsville and Pleasanton when her family moved to Pleasanton, Iowa. There she met Wilmer Francis Hutchison and they were married July 23, 1939. They were blessed with two sons, Larry and Ronald. The family lived in Washington State for a while as Wilmer worked construction on the military barracks, then moved back to Iowa and lived and worked in Des Moines. In 1955, they moved to Leon, Iowa where Wilmer with the help of Catherine and the boys, built their home on 4th street. Wilmer and Catherine owned a Harley-Davidson in the 50's and they went on many cross country motorcycle trips with other biker friends. Wilmer and Catherine opened a store when they came to Leon, selling railroad salvage, such as groceries. They later switched to clothing retail and moved the store to the north side of the square where Catherine ran Catherine's Clothes Closet for many years. Owning the clothing store meant many buying trips to Kansas City, and Catherine and Wilmer often took along a grandchild or two. Later they opened a second store in Eldorado Springs, Missouri, and bought timber and a cabin, and this became a place to take ALL the grandkids. They often made side trips to Stockton Lake and many trips to Worlds of Fun. The kids especially loved playing in the woods, and also helping Catherine and Wilmer work on the property. Eventually Catherine and Wilmer closed the stores and retired. Catherine then volunteered at the Westview Acres Nursing Home so often that they offered her a job as activities director. She held that position for a few years. Catherine and Wilmer also traveled, organized and hosted events for the Pleasanton school reunions, and they went to the local dances to keep fit. Wilmer passed in 1998. Catherine married Raymond Morris, from Promise City, Iowa in 1999. Raymond played guitar and he and Catherine enjoyed attending the dances and entertaining in the nursing homes in both Decatur and Wayne Counties. Raymond passed in 2004. Catherine continued to attend dances, happy to pick up other widows to take along. She also drove widows and elderly to church, meal sites, and appointments. In the last few years, Catherine has enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She constantly got calls from Larry's family and Ron's family about the next big event they wanted her to be there for. There have been weddings, baby showers and many birthday parties to attend. The church friends were also good to take her to services and Bible studies. "I'll be ready!" She would say, always excited to go, when called. Catherine was admired and adored by many. She was always cheerful and had the most positive outlook on life. She knew no stranger. She loved to tell stories and remembrances about her life and family. She was warm and caring, devoted to her family and friends, and she leaves a huge void in their lives with her passing. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Larry Hutchison, Leon, Iowa and Ronald (Sharon) Hutchison, Urbandale, Iowa; grandchildren, Kimberly (Kim) Watson, Bedford, Iowa, Ronda (Todd) Stumberg, Clive, Iowa, Jodi (Glen) Rubin, Panama City, Florida, Renae Hutchison, Johnston, Iowa, Kristina Hamaker, Johnston, Iowa, and Barry (Cindy) Hutchison, Jacksonville, Florida, great-grandchildren, Kelli (Josh) Winkler, Platte City, Missouri, Kory Watson (Erika) Watson, Bellevue, Nebraska, Kailey Stumberg, Midland, Texas, Ashley Stumberg, Denver, Colorado, Mallory (Trevor) Fowler, Adel, Iowa, Jacob Stumberg, Clive, Iowa, Kyle Hutchison, Jacksonville, Florida, Isaac (Carla) Rubin, Kailua, Hawaii, Wade Rubin, Panama City, Florida, and Alivia Hamaker and Grant Hamaker of Johnston, Iowa; great-great-grandchildren, Caleb and Loren Winkler, Platte City, Missouri, Iyla and Vivienne Fowler, Adel, Iowa, and Elliott Watson, Bellevue, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding Catherine in death were her parents, Carl and Ethel Smith; husband, Wilmer Hutchison; second Husband, Raymond Morris; sister, Gladys Louise Savely and brother-in-law, Ben Savely; brother-in-law, Gary Hutchison and sister-in-law Joyce Hutchison; infant grandson, Kevin Dean Hutchison; daughter-in-Law, Judy Hutchison; niece, Irene Atkinson; and nephew and niece, Carl and Irene Savely.
