Funeral services were March 29 at 2 p.m. at Cliff Union Church at Merna with the Rev. Richard Adrian and Arnie Teachout officiating. Music was provided by Melody Coleman, organist, and Tommy Fred, soloist. Pallbearers were Frank Bartak, Eddie Halliwill, John Foster, Boyd Cool, Kenneth Jackson and Gary Squier. Honorary pallbearers were Ervin Hyatt, Harold Coleman, Bob Lane, Rex May, Ira Whitney, Tom Christensen and Lawrence Coleman. Catherine Josephine Butler was born Sept. 1,1914 at Merna to Lloyd Delmar and Eulalia Matilda(Smith)Hyatt. She was united in marriage to Raymond T. Butler on June 3,1936 at Merna. They moved to the Marten Ranch in the Purdum area where they lived for five years, later moving to their farm in the Cliff Community. They retired from farming in January 1984, and moved to Merna. Butler died in January 1988. Mrs. Butler was a member of the Cliff Union Church and the So and So Extension Club. Survivors include two daughters, Eulalia Scotton of Eden, N.C.and Linda Morrison of Alliance; mother, Eulalia Hyatt of Merna; two sisters, Maxine Hyatt and Evelyn Hyatt, both of Merna; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, husband and one sister.
