She was then cared for by her grandparents at Felista, Ohio, till she was ten or eleven years old, after which she lived with her uncle, Mason Martin, in Washington County, Indiana, until the time of her marriage to John... Read More	CATHERINE "KATE" HOUSER MITCHELL Phillips County Herald, Holyoke, Colorado, February 10, 1927 Catherine Houser, only daughter of Jonas and Jemima Martin Houser was born in Harrison County, Indiana on the 21st of February 1835 or 36, as there were two conflicting records of her birth, and died February 6, 1927 [stone=1928]. Her mother died when she was only a few days old. She was then cared for by her grandparents at Felista, Ohio, till she was ten or eleven years old, after which she lived with her uncle, Mason Martin, in Washington County, Indiana, until the time of her marriage to John M. Mitchell, April 16th 1854. To this union four children were born, the first dying in infancy. The other three still surviving are Charles W. Mitchell of Hindsboro, Illinois, Henry Mitchell and Mrs. Alice Estella Cauble, wife of A.C. Cauble, of Holyoke, Colorado. She was converted and joined the Mill Creek Baptist Church near Salem, Indiana soon after her marriage, of which church she was a faithful and consistent member. Soon after coming to Holyoke in March 1901, she joined the First Baptist Church of Holyoke, where she was in attendance whenever possible to be there. For the past six or seven years she has been confined to her bed except on a very few occasions. Her life was a living testimony for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved and served. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Robert J. Church, February 7th, at the home of Mr. A.C. Cauble and interment in the Holyoke cemetery. ~ ~ ~ ~ Son Charles W. Mitchell memorial # 71375700.
