Description	:	Catherine Kate McCabe was born in Ogle County Ilinois in 1858. She was the daughter of Bernard McCabe who was born in Leitrim Co., Ireland. Her mother was probably Ann Cahill also born in Ireland. Kate married Edward Spratt Feb 1877 in Holbrook, Iowa Co., Iowa and moved to Otoe Co., Nebraska before 1880. Her sister Mary Ann McCabe was married to William Spratt, a brother to her husband Edward, they stayed in Iowa. Kate and Edward Spratt moved to Bird City, Kansas around 1888 to homestead. Her sister Mary Ann McCabe was married to William Spratt, a brother to her husband Edward, they stayed in Iowa. Kate and Edward Spratt moved to Bird City, Kansas around 1888 to homestead. Edward died there in 1896. Kate and the five Spratt children moved back to Otoe Co. Nebraska after the death of Edward to be with her family, the McCabes. In 1899 she married Edward Buchholz in Otoe Co., Nebraska, he died in 1903. ------- ELmwood Leader Echo Elmwood, Nebraska March 22, 1912 Mrs. Ed Buchholz passed away at her home a few miles southwest of town Sunday evening, the cause of death being heart trouble. Mrs Buchholz had suffered several attacks as the result of poor heart action. Her last illness was of short duration, as no suffering was apparent when life passed from the body. During the day Sunday Mrs. Buchholz appeared in her usual health and her supper that evening was heartily relished. Death was therefore a shock to the relatives and many friends who are now morning the loss of a kind hearted and neighborly woman. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's church in Elmwood yesterday morning and internment made in the Elmwood cemetery.
