Judge, a brother, John Ward, Sr. and a number of grand-children, all of whom were present at her bedside when death called. Catherine Ward was born in Ireland in 1830 and at an early age was united in marriage to Richard Judge, of Cootehall Co. Roscommon, Ireland. 5 children blessed their union, 3 sons and 2 daughters, one son dying in infancy and one daughter Mary, who passed away at the age of 19 years. Deceased was the first born in a family of 8 children of Mr. and Mrs. John Ward of the Co. Leitrm, Ireland. As the eldest child in so large a family, she early learned and practiced the household duties incident to the comfort and welfare of those about her, which virtues she reclaimed throughout her life. Mrs. Judge, lived in Ireland until the death of her husband in 1896, when she made her home in America with her daughter, Mrs. Patrick Ward. Thus has passed away, "Grandma Judge" as she was called, and while happy in her home in America where she received the kindest attention at all times, we can but wonder if oft her mind wandered back to the dear little island so noted for its martyrs in the cause of liberty and the religion which she professed and so devoutly lived. It was but fitting that so beautiful a life should go out on the anniversary of the birth of Him who was sent to bring "Peace on earth, good will to men," and by his death on the cross purchase our redemption. Grandma will be missed not only in the family circle but among her many friends who loved her cheerful and sunshiny presence, for to know this good woman was to love her. The funeral services were held at the Ulysses Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, Dec. 27th, at ten o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. Father Loughran, after which interment was made in the Catholic cemetary near Ulysses.
