This is the information Uncle Ed left: One of my questions of Leonard Egan was the burial place of my great grandparents, Thomas Egan and Catherine Doyle. Catherine lived with Leonard's father, Patrick, at the time of her death. The answer is that they are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery a mile north of Schuyler with their two sons who predeceased them. The monument is a tall grey stone shaft surmounted by a Latin cross. It is on the east side of the cemetery's central path, just west of the distinctive truncated tree monument of Bridget Foak (1880-1927) On the west base is inscribed "EGAN" Any inscription of the west, north and east faces of the shaft has long since disappeared. The south face however carries: "William Egan died July 29 1895 aged 16 yrs, 20 dys, and John J Egan, died Jan 28 1899 aged 21 year 2 mos 28 dys __________________________________ Bridget Hawe Foak was Mary Agnes Hawe Egan's baby sister. Mary Agnes was Thomas Francis Egan's wife, Catherines'(Katie's daugher-in law)___________________________________ Katie's date of birth has also been listed as March 15, 1845. The one I have listed is from her death certificate (1844) So she was either born 1844 or 1845. Her funeral was held at St Augustine's church, Schuyler NE and she lived with her son Patrick of Monroe when she died. Obit: Grandma Egan passed away at the home of her son, Patrick Egan at Leigh on Oct. 14, 1921. Grandma Egan had been in failing continually the past two weeks, and because of her advanced age, medical skill was of but little avail and the end came peacefully and apparently without pain. The Patrick Egan family were residents of the Leigh community until two years ago, when they moved to Monroe. The deceased is survived by three daughters and three sons. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church in Schuyler with burial in the Catholic cemetery north of Schuyler, where rest the remains of the husband, two sons and a daughter
