Little Chicago Woman Dies During Religious Services At Her Home. Eight Children Motherless. The sudden death at her home on Smelter avenue in Little Chicago yesterday afternoon of Mrs. Catherine Monroe, wife of A. L. Monroe, made eight children, ranging in age from 1 to 17 years, motherless and gave a dramatic touch to services being held in the home at the time by Salvation Army workers. While death of Mrs. Monroe was sudden, it was not wholly unexpected for she had been in very poor health for some time and had been under the care of a doctor. Heart failure was given as the cause. The death of Mrs. Monroe is but one of the sad incidents in the family's experiences, the others coming from ill luck and health and fortune, according to Mrs. J. A. Warren of the Salvation Army. Three of the children of the Monroe household are now being cared for by the Salvation Army workers and they are in circumstances that demand immediate attention. They have not clothing suitable for their need, even at this time of the year, and the army workers stated last night that they would be pleased to receive contributions of clothing or money for supplies to help this family in distress. Mrs. Monroe is survived by her husband and eight children; two brothers, John Nicholson of Stockett and George Nicholson of Roundup. Mrs. Monroe had been suffering from ill health for some time and the family had received some aid from the Salvation Army. The army workers had been holding services at the Monroe home occasionally and had gone there for that purpose yesterday afternoon, it thus happening that the service was in progress when the death occurred. --- 8 April 1914--The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Monroe, wife of A. L. Monroe, was held in O'Connor's undertaking chapel yesterday afternoon at 1:45. Services were conducted by Rev. Ezra P. Gibboney, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in Highland cemetery. Bearers were Samuel Johnson, Oscar Bogich, Frank Stewart, Vincent Brown, Herman Smith and Peter H. Johnson. ..................................................
