Her home for years was in the Schappler apartments here, where Mr Newcomb died Oct 11(1), 1933. Born at Galesburg, Ill., Mrs Newcomb, the former Catherine Clark, was a daughter of Mr and Mrs P F Clark. The family moved to Cameron, Mo, from Galesburg, and later moved to Atchison from Cameron. Mrs Newcomb, her parents and two brothes lived several years after coming to Atchison at 212 North Fifth. Mrs Newcomb was a member of the Atchison Methodist church,and was very active in it. She had a wide circle of friends, always went out of her way to help others, and was interested in affairs of the day. She was a charter member of the Martha Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star organized in 1899, and served as the organization's second Worthy Matron. She was elected to this office in 1901. She also was a charter member of Chapter J of the Atchison PEO which was organized in 1904 and previous to that was a member of the PEO at Cameron. She had been a member of the PEO for 55 years. Mrs Newcomb also was a charter member of the Atchison Altrusa club, and was a member of the Atchison Aid association, which later developed into the Altrusa Club. She and Mr Newcomb were united in marriage Oct 18, 1893 at Cameron. Their home for many years, previous to moving to the Schappler apartments was at 401 Parallel. Surviving is one brother, P. Fred Clark of San Diego. Her other brother, Ed Clark, preceded her in death. Fred lived in Oregon in 47. **Edwin passed in 1934 in WA.
