Underwood in charge. Pallbearers were Daniel Younggreen, Ward Smith, L. S. Asqhenbrenner, John Triggs, Lew Krug and Carl Grice. Emarine Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements and burial was in the Laurens cemetery. Catherine Schmidt, daughter of Teil and Barbara Krug was born June 26, 1855 in Lee County, Ill and passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Otto Alborn, Sept. 2, 1941. Her age at the time of her death was 86 years, 2 months and 6 days. She was united in marriage with George Schmidt of Lee County, Ill Aug. 8, 1869. To them were born five children. An infant son and her husband, who passed away Aug. 14, 1910, preceded her in death. Mrs. Schmidt, with her husband and family came to Iowa from Illinois in 1900. They lived on their farm northeast of Laurens for about four years. In January of 1940 they moved to Laurens to the house which has been her home until the close of her life. She was a member of the Evangelical church in Illinois, and after coming to Iowa she attended the Laurens Church of Christ, as long as her health would permit. Survivors are her four children, Mrs. Sophia Reinhart, Mrs. Otto Alborn, George Schmidt and Henry Schmidt all of Laurens; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral are Mrs. Christine Faber, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Laurile, of New York Mills, Minn., Mrs., Ralph Gambach of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Runneberg, Rossie; Mrs. Emil Johnson and son, Mrs. Jim Keller, and Mrs. Mary McKerren,of Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lasher and family of Alta; Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson, Albert City; Mrs. Sam Shipman, Humboldt; Mrs. Earl Messer, of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Krug, Mrs. Marcille Moritz and daughter, and Mrs. A. Schreyer of Pocahontas; Mrs. Ward Smith, Marathon, and Mr.; and Mrs. Robert Rouse of Ruthven. ------------------------------------- Passed Away After Long Illness Mrs. Catherine Schmidt, 86, a resident of Laurens for 41 years, passed away at her home about 8 o'clock Tuesday night, Sept. 2, after being in. failing health for a number of years. Mrs. Schmidt has been suffering considerably during the last two weeks, and it is reported that a blood clot near the heart was the cause of death. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Schmidt home with the Rev. N. W. Underwood in charge. Arrangements are being made by Emarine Funeral Home. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Sophia Reinhart, Mrs. Otto Alborn and her sons, Henry and George Schmidt. She also has grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One of her children died in infancy. A number of relatives and friends are expected to arrive in Laurens for her services tomorrow.
