CATHERINE WAHL RELIEVED OF SUFFERING The community was grieved this week to learn of the death of Mrs. Catherine Wahl, a long-time resident of Victor and a very lovable person. Last October 13, Mrs. Wahl suffered a fall in her home, fractured her hip. After a long period in the hospital she was brought home and since that time had received the best possible care that her family and attendants could give. Throughout all her suffering she maintained the same Christian fortitude that she exemplified during her entire life. Obituary Mrs. Catherine Wahl, nee Brandt, was born in Germany, February 15, 1861, and passed to her reward in victor, Iowa, February 21, 1943, at the age of eighty-two years and six days. When she was fourteen years of age she came to this country and located near Victor. After growing to beautiful Christian young womanhood, she was married to Fred G. Wahl. This happy union was blessed with four sons. Her husband preceded her in death almost twenty years ago. Mrs. Wahl was a real Christian for more than seventy years and she was ever devoted, faithful and loyal to her church and the kingdomw of God. After her marriage she and her husband made a covenant with Good, to give Him a tithe of their income for Church and Kingdom purposes. They have the tithe through all the years of their married life. For many years they supported a Bible Woman or a native preacher in India. They both believed that the Gospel of Christ was the only hope of the World. Mrs. Wahl lived a beautiful Christian life and through her devotions, her living, her prayers, her interest, her services and her generous giving she ever revealed a vital and living Christ. She was a woman of great prayer. Many times in life, when she found herself in difficulties and seemed to be hemmed in by circumstances and conditions she prayed through to victory. She knew what it meant to prevail with God in prayer. Her fine prayer life made an indelible impression on all the members of her family. A few years ago, she deplored the fact that she could do so little good in the world because of illness, but she never ceased to pray until she closed her eyes in death. Her four sons feel that they have been greatly favored and blessed because they have had such an excellent Christian mother. Her last words before she left were, "I am going home," and then she passed on to her eternal crown. She leaves four sons, Fred, Henry, Arthur, Edward and their wives, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Intermann, who is ninety-five years of age and lives at Brooklyn, Iowa, many relatives and friends who mourn her going. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church, the Rev. J. J. Pritchard officiating, assisted by Rev. H. W. Brandt of Marengo and Rev. O. C. Ellis. Pall bearers were Dale Courtney, Clarece and H. Art Schwiebert, Horace Wahl, Milton Maack and Everett Brandt.
