She received the National Safely Award for being a Campaign Sponsor of the "Courtsey Driving Program." She was born Oct. 17, 1904, the daughter of Joseph and Magdalene Degand Kippes. Mrs. Kippes was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the altar society at the church and Daughters of Isabella Little Flowers Circle No. 503. She was a Democratic Precinct Woman and then became Republican Precinct Woman for more than 37 years. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She married George A. Kippes on Oct. 22, 1922. He died in 1974. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Kippes and Mildred Kippes, both of Topeka. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kippes will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., followed by a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure of Mary Catholic Church, 1800 S.W.
