Catherine Marie (Martin) Black, daughter of Edward and Leona (Connot) Martin, was born March 8, 1951, at O'Neill, Nebraska. Cathie grew up in Spencer, Nebraska as the oldest of seven children and graduated from Spencer Public Schools in 1969. She was married to Richard A. Black on June 5, 1971, at Spencer. Cathie and Rick raised their four children, Kim, Kerry, Kelly, and Charlie in Lynch where Cathie enjoyed watching her kids participate in sports and other school activities. Cathie spent her time providing daycare to countless children and families for over 40 years at her home. She enjoyed sharing stories about the kids and all the silly things they did. She loved her daycare kids as if they were her own and they always held a special place in her heart. Cathie and Rick celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2021. Cathie died on December 9, 2021, at home in Lynch, Nebraska, surrounded by her husband and children at the age of 70. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers, four brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
