She was born and reared on the South Branch about 8 miles above Franklin in Pendleton Co. W.Va. She was one of twelve children, her father’s Jacob Moyers. Read More	Highland Recorder November 2, 1923 IN MEMORY OF MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER Aunt Catherine Hammer who departed this life September 4th 1923 aged 93 years, 10 months, 4 days. She was born and reared on the South Branch about 8 miles above Franklin in Pendleton Co. W.Va. She was one of twelve children, her father’s Jacob Moyers. Later she was married to Samuel Hammer of the Branch. Then some years after this they bought and moved here on Bullpasture and have resided here ever since. Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond some twenty-six years ago. He was a good, loving father and husband and loved by all that knew him. She was survived by her last son, John, whom she lived until she was called away. Ashby, her first son, preceded her to the grave twelve years ago. They were the only two children. She had seventeen grand children, several of whom are dead. She has seventeen great grand children living. A vacant chair is left in our home that can never be filled. She had been almost an invalid for many years, caused by rheumatism. On Sept. 5, in the afternoon, funeral services was conducted at McKendree Church by Rev. Kerns of Monterey after which she was laid to rest in the McKendree cemetery.
