Catherine Ruth Robey was the daughter of Ray Scott and Daisy Mae Kann Robey. She was raised in the Brooklyn, Iowa area and was a 1937 graduate of Brooklyn High School. She received her teaching certificate from the Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls. For several years, she taught at Rural School # 9 in Warren Township in Poweshiek County. She was married to Melvin Price on March 22, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. A union of 58 years! To this union was born one daughter; Colleen. She retired from teaching following her wedding and began working together with her husband operating a successful farm operation During this time she was very active with the Farm Bureau. Ruth was a member of the Victor United Methodist Church, where she volunteered for many activities. She was an active member of the Victor American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H leader and a volunteer at the HLV School District. She was a strong advocate of a child's education! She loved flowers, gardening and canning her produce. She was very detailed in many of the things she enjoyed doing.
