Description	:	OBIT: Catherine Cooke, 83, a former long-time Ellensburg resident, died Tuesday in a hospital in Grant's Pass, Ore. Mrs. Cooke was born May 17, 1897, in Osceola, Wis. She attended Ellensburg Normal School, was graduated from the University of Washington and taught school prior to her marriage to Guy W. Cooke on January 19, 1921. Read More	OBIT: Catherine Cooke, 83, a former long-time Ellensburg resident, died Tuesday in a hospital in Grant's Pass, Ore. Mrs. Cooke was born May 17, 1897, in Osceola, Wis. She attended Ellensburg Normal School, was graduated from the University of Washington and taught school prior to her marriage to Guy W. Cooke on January 19, 1921. The couple farmed in the Fairview area until his death on Dec. 17, 1955. Mrs. Cooke had been in ill health since suffering a stroke in 1977. She moved to Rogue River, Ore., six months ago in order to live near her daughter, Louise Palmerton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star, Women of the Moose and the Kittitas County Cow Belles. Mrs. Cooke also had served as a superintendent of the Kittitas County Fair for a number of years, was a member and officer of the Silver Circle and had been a charter member of the Nanum Grange. In addition, she was a member of the Country Mothers' Club and was a long-time 4H Club leader. Survivors include a brother, John Shotwell, Seattle; two sons, Glen Cooke, Ellensburg, and George Cooke, Butte, Mont.; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Marion) Callows, Seattle, Eva C. Cooke, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Keith (Louise) Palmerton, Rogue River, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Evenson Chapel with the Rev. Donald Meekhof officiating. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be donated to the Kittitas County Historical Society, 114 E. Third Ave. or to the Heart Fund, in care of Mrs. Frank Green, 913 E. Washington Ave.
