Description	:	Catherine Strickland Heckle -- St. Matthews Mrs. Catherine Strickland Heckle, 97, of St. Matthews, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 18, at Calhoun Convalescent Center. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Congaree Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Autry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Heckle was born April 14, 1916, a daughter of the late George Strickland and Rosa Rickenbaker Strickland. Mrs. Heckle was born April 14, 1916, a daughter of the late George Strickland and Rosa Rickenbaker Strickland. She retired many years ago, and at the time of her death was the oldest member of Congaree Baptist Church. Her creativity was expressed in her hobbies of gardening and sewing. She specialized in growing beautiful roses and dahlias and making clothes for family members in earlier years. Survivors are her daughter, Kathy (Simpson) Sikes; son, Kenneth (Mary) Heckle; grandsons, Jody Wayne (Laura) Sikes and Jason Colie (Nikia) Heckle, all of St. Matthews; granddaughter, Allison Sikes (Derek) Ruff of Lexington; sisters, Thelma (Bob) Bennett of Paw Paw, Mich., and Dorothy Buyck of St. Matthews. She was pre-deceased by sisters, Lucille Ellenburg, and Frances Crook, and brothers, Everette Strickland, George Strickland Jr. and Marvin Strickland; a daughter-in-law, Carol Heckle; and twin great-grandsons, Jared and Jackson Sikes.
