The funeral was held in the Catholic church at Anthon, Sunday, conducted by Father O'Brien, and the remains laid at rest in the Anthon Catholic cemetery. There was a very large attendance of sympathizing friends and neighbors who came to pay the last tribute of love and respect to the memory of the departed. There were 40 carriages in the procession that wended its way to the cemetery. There was a profusion of floral decorations and the members of the family specially mentioned as worthy of their heartfelt thanks Mrs. H. H. Conn, who sent a beautiful cross in white flowers, and also Mrs. D. K. and Mrs. J. M. Freeman, who sent very handsome floral tributes. Mrs. Sullivan's maiden name was Katharine Murphy. She was born in the county of Cork, Ireland, in 1816, where she grew to womanhood and married. In 1850 she and her husband came to America and two years later came west to Dubuque county, then a very new country. In 1879 they came to Woodbury county and settled near the present site of Anthon, where they had since resided. Four children survive their mother: Jno Sullivan, of Anthon; P. M. Sullivan, Mrs. John Moran and Mrs. Jas. McKenna, of Correctionville.
