Description	:	On Sunday, February 18, 1883, at her home two miles north of Boonsboro, Mrs. Catherine Wahl, wife of Fred Wahl, departed this life being in the fifty seventh year of her age. Mrs. Wahl, whose maiden name was Thrush, was married to Fred Wahl in Muskingum County, Ohio, about 1847 or 8, both of them we believe were born in the old country. Read More	On Sunday, February 18, 1883, at her home two miles north of Boonsboro, Mrs. Catherine Wahl, wife of Fred Wahl, departed this life being in the fifty seventh year of her age. Mrs. Wahl, whose maiden name was Thrush, was married to Fred Wahl in Muskingum County, Ohio, about 1847 or 8, both of them we believe were born in the old country. In 1853 they came west and settled upon the farm upon which Mrs. Wahl died, and where they have continuously resided, witnesses of the change of the wilderness of '53 to the garden of '83. Like most pioneers the couple were poor, having but little of the world's goods to begin life in the west, but by their industrious hands were enabled to gather together not only a competence but property far above the average, in fact they became among the richest families in the county and their pleasant home in sight of Boone and Boonsboro bears evidence of the true spirit of husband and wife. Mrs. Wahl leaves five children, all adults, but still at home or unmarried, viz: George, Carrie, Lafe, Rovena, and Will, and all of them are proof of the nobleness of their mother. Mrs. Wahl in early life attached herself to the German Lutheran church, and in which she has always been an earnest consistent member. About seven years ago Mrs. Wahl encountered a great grief in the loss of a bright little boy, who died at about three years of age, ever since which time Mrs. Wahl has appeared heart broken and as if she could never be reconciled to the loss of her baby boy. Earth seemed to have no panacea, time no change, which could bring to her heart any solace, but which seemed to fasten upon her as a great weight until her death, showing the great depth and lasting force of the noble mother's love. This we believe was the first death among her children. She was buried on Tuesday at the grave yard at Bass point, where sleeps her dead boy, and so many of those who shared the joys and sorrows, the pleasures and privations of her new country home with her. She was an exemplary woman, one whose excellence, virtues, and modest worth, are fitting examples for the living, and which our poor pen can but poorly illustrate. The large circle of her acquaintances lament her loss as one of their own blood, for no one ever met and knew her but to fell that she was worthy of all esteem and confidence and those whose hearts are now bleeding fresh for the loss of wife and mother have the consolation of Him "who is the resurrection and the life" feeling that in the great Hereafter the wife and mother's poor aching heart finds rest and joy in that "House not made with hands eternal in the Heavens." She was 57.
