She was 71 years, 3 months and 25 days of age at the time of her demise. Mrs. Kahl had been in poor health for more than a year and last July she was taken to the home of her daughter south of town where she has since made her home. She was always able to be up and around until a few weeks ago when her condition became so serious that she was confined to her bed. Catherine Kahl, nee Oelberg, was born June 27, 1851 at Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In the year 1883 she came to America with her parents and on Nov. 8, 1884 she was married to Fred Kahl. They resided on the home farm south of town which is now occupied by the daughter. In 1905 they retired from the farm and moved to town, where Mr . Kahl passed away on March 1, 1914. Mrs. Kahl is survived by one daughter, Emma, now Mrs. Asmus Hollander, and two sisters: Mrs. Karsten Hansen, of Baker City, Ore., and Mrs. Henry Christensen, who resides near here. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the late home of the deceased and at 2 o'clock from the Friedens church with Rev Kielhorn in charge. Burial was made in Morgan township cemetery.
