Douglas, 84, widower of Frances Ruthette Douglas, died April 30, 2006 in Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 3:00 p. m. in Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be Rev. Clide E. Glover, Sr. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. He was born October 4, 1921 in Hemingway, a son of the late Nelson Henry Douglas and the late Bessie Ann Rhodes Douglas. Mr. Douglas was a retired Supervisor with International Paper and a member of the Quarter Century Club and Pine Tree Club with International Paper. He attended Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a pillar of the community who will be greatly missed by many every day. He was a loving husband. To his children, he was a true father in every sense of the word and a role model who left behind "Big Shoes" that will be difficult to fill. He walked a path through life that would be hard for even a saint to follow. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild have everlasting values instilled upon them by their "Poppy"; values of honesty, righteousness, unselfishness and loving unconditionally. Anyone whose life had been touched in any small way by this legend of a man that many called "Club" has been truly blessed. He was always very thankful for all blessings and never complained during his illness. Words cannot express the overwhelming gratitude we feel for everything you have done for us nor can they explain how proud we feel when we think of you. You have always been and will always be our hero. We love you "a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck". Surviving are; one son, Jimmy E. Douglas of Georgetown; three daughters, Donna D. Poit of Georgetown, Carolyn D. Stone of Seville, Florida and Susan D. Adkins of Thomasville, N. C.; one sister, Dorothy Goude of Hemingway; Ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jerry Douglas and three brothers, Eugene Douglas, Clifton Douglas and Elbert Douglas. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m. Monday at the funeral home.
