Anna Cecelia Knipe was born on November 11, 1910 to John P. and Margaret (Bietz) Knipe in Afton, IA and relocated with her parents and siblings to rural Cummings, ND as a young girl and attended school there. She married Fredrick Julius Adams on June 19, 1929 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Hillsboro, ND. Cecelia and Fred settled in their rural Reynolds, ND farmstead where they raised two children, Raymond Clemens and Elizabethann Clara. They enjoyed their family farm life tending to their livestock, chickens, crops, gardens and flowers. Cecelia and Fred enjoyed music and dancing along with their family square dance team known as the “Thompson Tabbies”. Cecelia and Fred moved into the town of Reynolds, ND in the 1950’s. They were blessed with 70 years of marriage up until his death in 1999. Cecelia resided independently the past 10 years at St. Anne’s Guest Home in Grand Forks, ND enjoying the daily pleasures of Mass, Bingo, friends, family visits, and visits from her best dog-friend, “Dodge”. While Fred always made her birthdays a celebrated family event, some of her more recent birthdays were especially honored; her 100th birthday celebration with her family and congregation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND as well as her 101st birthday on November 11, 2011 at St. Anne’s Guest Home. ecelia always enjoyed life’s pleasures of serving others; tending to her family and farm, gardens and flowers; baking numerous birthday cakes, wedding cakes, and anniversary cakes for family and friends; providing a treasured gift of sewing, crocheting, and knitting many beloved quilts, afghans, doilies, and special heirlooms for all of her family. One of her favorite past times was sharing her witty sense of spirited humor with others and passing time watching all kinds of sports activities. Cecelia served and loved the Lord and community; she was an avid member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Christian Women’s Organization and served with her husband as positions of President and Vice-President for the local Senior Citizen’s Club. Cecelia is survived by her children, Raymond (Diane) Adams, Reynolds, ND and Elizabethann Adams, Reynolds, ND; her siblings, Joe Knipe, Veronica Brommenschenkel, Rosina Lindback, and Mary Brunswick; grandchildren, LeRoy (Angela) Adams, RaeAnn Eliason, Todd (Connie) Adams, Kelly (Michael) Burd, Francis Adams, Shirley Wyatt, Michael (Denise) Adams, Judy (Kirke) Henry, Kathy Adams, Kevin (Randi) Adams and Anita (Bill) Smith; 28 great-grandchildren, and 40 great-great-grandchildren. Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Margaret Olson, Agnes Ackerman, Gertrude Cirk, Ilene Brunswick, Leonard Knipe, Monica Kappes, and John Knipe; her grandson, Neil Adams; her son-in-law, Ardell Adams and her granddaughter-in-law, Pamela Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be sent in Cecelia’s honor to St. Anne’s Guest Home 524 North 17th Street, Grand Forks, ND, 58203 Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND in the spring.
