Description	:	Cecil Allen O'Banion, 94, was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Mercer, Mo., to Benjamin Harrison and Charlotta May Kelley O'Banion. He had two younger sisters, Mildred and Alice. Cecil married Myrtle Alice Sherwood, April 23, 1937, in Missoula. Four children joined the family, Ralph Richard (Martha), Joyce Darlene, Carol Esther and Janet Darlene. Read More	Cecil Allen O'Banion, 94, was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Mercer, Mo., to Benjamin Harrison and Charlotta May Kelley O'Banion. He had two younger sisters, Mildred and Alice. Cecil married Myrtle Alice Sherwood, April 23, 1937, in Missoula. Four children joined the family, Ralph Richard (Martha), Joyce Darlene, Carol Esther and Janet Darlene. As a young child, Cecil's family spent the summers in Montana on a farm near Broadview, returning to Missouri during the winters and finally settling in Billings. He served in the U.S. Army during the '30s, and was a welder in the Seattle shipyard during the second World War. He retired from Montana Dakota Utilities in 1978. Following retirement, Cecil and Myrtle enjoyed traveling to Illinois, Texas and Mexico, including Mexico City and the Yucatan Peninsula. They enjoyed this time together. Cecil learned to tat and made many beautiful pieces. He did some oil painting and enjoyed writing stories and poetry. He was a single engine pilot. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, enjoying many different opportunities to serve. Cecil was preceded in death by Myrtle, his wife of 63 years; daughters Joyce and Janet; sister Alice Lusero; and a grandson, Jeffery Hill. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, at the LDS Sixth and Avenue D Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m., at Smith's Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th. The casket will be closed at the church. Published in the Billings Gazette on 4/24/2007.
